La Cigarra

La Cigarra is a handcrafted ceramics brand (https://www.instagram.com/lacigarra_ceramica/ by @aline_soli). The name comes from a reinterpretation of La Fontaine’s fable as a defense of creative and intuitive work, a craft that values time, sensitivity, and the living imperfection of manual making, embracing each of its processes.

La Cigarra is also a manifesto of freedom and metamorphosis. It is about shedding the ant’s carapace. It is the pursuit of an authentic life, one filled with meaning and purpose in the everyday.

The brand-building process dissected the formal concept of a cicada in three steps: purification, stylization, and reconstruction. As a result, three visual forms emerged as possible integrations of the brand, allowing for broader segmentation across product categories. The deconstructed shaping of the lettering draws inspiration from traditional Japanese seals (hanko), allowing it to adapt perfectly to its purpose as a piece stamp.
